Project Pankh: Ek Udaan

The Roots of Project Pankh

The number of females affected by poor menstrual health is surreal. It bothered us to know that many women are not getting these basic needs for them. According to the report of the World Bank, around 500 million women worldwide lack awareness about menstrual hygiene, which is shocking.

To conclude this issue from the root, Sarv Hitam Manav Seva Sansthan has started an initiative named “Project Pankh: Ek Udaan.” We put our purest efforts towards spreading awareness of menstrual health and hygiene. We reach out to underprivileged areas to provide the right knowledge on menstrual health to females so that they won’t get affected by health issues like reproductive and urinary tract infections.

We have got support from the Women and Child Development (WCD) on project Pankh. We are reaching SSK centers all over Delhi and spreading awareness.

In project Pankh: Ek Udaan, we distribute free biodegradable sanitary pads to girls and women in underprivileged areas. We make sure that they get the required knowledge on maintaining proper menstrual hygiene

Menstrual Hygiene Awareness

We are onto spreading the awareness on menstrual hygiene. We have reached a lot of slums and SSK centers to spread awareness.

Biodegradable Sanitary Pad Distribution

The team of Sarva Hitam Manav Seva Sansthan is working with determination to distribute the free biodegradable sanitary pads to the women who belongs to underprivileged areas.

Educating Women on Menstrual Health

Giving knowledge on menstrual health to women and girls so that they can maintain a healthy menstrual cycle. This step is essential for breaking the silence on poor menstrual health.

Impact on the society

We are providing free biodegradable sanitary pads to girls and women in slum areas who are not privileged to afford this basic need or are unaware of this fact. We have seen countless women who seem clueless about menstrual hygiene. We have heard stories from those women about their relatives getting sick with menstrual-related diseases, and they still don’t have the appropriate knowledge on keeping a healthy menstrual cycle.

Our volunteers and coordinators went door to door in the slum areas of Delhi and spread awareness on how one can keep proper menstrual care at home. They distributed free biodegradable sanitary pads so that these women could generate a habit of using one. We have held awareness sessions in government schools and colleges to teach young girls about the importance of menstrual hygiene and health.

Vision Behind the Project Pankh

Sarva Hitam Manav Seva Sansthan is working day and night on the project Pankh so that no woman can suffer from poor menstrual health. We are eagerly working to achieve our goal of reaching as many women as we can by the end of November 2024 and giving them biodegradable sanitary pads. We want to aware every woman and girl about how dangerous it is to use clothes instead of menstrual pads.

No woman should hesitate to discuss mensuration with their parents and peers. We want to remove this taboo from the roots and spread awareness about the use of hygienic sanitary products nationwide.
